Grill pans not really add a nice flavor?

I am not able to grill outdoors, but I wondered if the covered grill pans (which are a gas burner on the stove) are any good? I saw the really expensive in Rachael Ray magazine, but Google shows that I can get one for less than $ 20 at Target or Wal-Mart. What I know is, should I spend the $ 20? I am thinking of using it to roast vegetables and maybe chicken or fish, but does it really make a difference in taste compared to just skip? I mean, I know it will not taste a charcoal grill, but makes some good-taste wise? I think they are all non-stick, which is not my favorite thing, but probably not have a choice like that.

I was very disappointed with my grill pan. It's just that much to make marks on your food. Do not add any flavor grill at all. Not even worth $ 20 in my opinion. For a barbecue flavor try adding southwest seasonings such as cumin or maybe even a touch of liquid smoke in their marinades.
